Chokes

Chokes are inductive resistors with frequency-specific impedance that are used for current limitation or energy storage. Bächli delivers single-phase and three-phase models for all switching-relevant requirements. In addition to the conventional grid chokes, Bächli manufactures all types of filter chokes, also in combination with capacitors and resistors. Our focus is on filters tailored-made to suit customer-specific and energy-efficient requirements. All our products are CE conform.

Designattributes:

  • All chokes in accordance with EN 61558, UL 5085 and CSA22.2 as well as category XPTQ2/8 and Lloyds
  • Higher Currents up to 10,000 A and dielectric strength up to 1000 V depending on standards
  • Vertical design as standard
  • Small chokes in insulation material class B (130 °C), otherwise in F (140 °C), see data sheets
  • All 50 Hz chokes can also be used for 60 Hz

Fields ofapplication:

Power choke:

Limits the short-circuit current or start-up current to a specified value (usually given as a percentage in the UK), general insulation for harmonics or interference voltage

 

Smoothing choke:

Reduces ripples and/or extends the duration of the current flow for a pulsating direct current

 

Commutation choke:

Reduces the steepness of the current increase and thereby limits the peak currents during commutation

 

Filter circuit choke:

Protects compensation systems from inadmissible harmonics

 

Sine wave filter choke:

Converts PWM voltage into sinusoidal voltage, reducing transients

 

Motor choke:

Reduces the effect of the capacitive load caused by long motor leads connected to the frequency converters, reduces motor noise, reduces transients

 

Motor filter chokes:
